Part-Time Custodian, First Presbyterian Church, Owensboro KY
$15.00 per hour
25 hours per week including Sunday mornings 8:00-11:00 am
The custodian is part of the complete ministry team of clergy, musicians, administrative and financial assistants and volunteers who serve the congregation.
Personal Characteristics.
- Possess the knowledge and skill to operate machinery to be used
- Be a self-motivated and conscientious worker who accepts and carries out responsibilities for the maintenance and appearance of the church building with enthusiasm and imagination.
- Exhibit other positive work habits such as promptness, friendliness, and willingness to work as part of a team.
Task Description
- Carry out a consistent program of cleaning all rooms of the church
- Able to perform physical requirements (lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing on ladders, etc)
- Perform light maintenance and repair tasks (stock restrooms, change light bulbs, etc)
- Report maintenance needs which cannot be managed in-house
- Assist with setting up and/or cleaning for special programs and events
- Maintain an inventory of all paper goods and make order requests to church secretary
- Knowledge of and experience with a variety of cleaning machines and their chemical products
- Help maintain church grounds (pick up trash, remove snow from steps and walks, etc)
- Other duties as assigned by the pastor as head of staff
Accountability and Review
The custodian is accountable to the pastor as head of staff and shall be annually reviewed by the pastor each October.
