“…do theology with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other.” (Karl Barth)
At First Presbyterian Church, we take study of faith very seriously, always seeking to live into our church’s tradition of “reformed, always being reformed.” We believe that the Holy Spirit is continually at work to nurture us and inspire us, stretch us and change us. To this end, we gather together to learn and study regularly, always open to learning new things and stretching ourselves in new ways.
Sunday School
We offer two adult church school classes on Sunday mornings at 9:30. The Men’s Bible Class meets in the basement of the church and follows The Present Word curriculum of our denomination. The other church school class meets in the Gardenside Parlor and studies various topics through lecture, video and discussion.
Coffee Cup Theology
Each Wednesday at 1:00pm, we gather to study the biblical texts for the coming Sunday. This time of discussion and spiritual growth meets in the Gardenside Parlor.
Wednesday Book Group
A book discussion group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 10:00am. The group explores a variety of books through the lens of faith.
