Red Steel is a unique steel drum band that performs many concerts both in the community and at local schools. Consisting of high school students, Red Steel brings to their performances a diverse array of music including jazz, pop, classical, Brazilian and Caribbean music. The ensemble is a sought-after group giving anywhere from 20-30 performances a year for around 3,000 people.
In 2014 and 2016 Red Steel was selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Education Association conference in Louisville, KY. The groups performances in the region have included appearances with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Mesker Park Zoo, opening the Owensboro Convention Center, Oldham County Arts Festival, as well as events in the Owensboro Sportscenter and “Friday after 5” in the beautiful downtown district at Smothers Park. The group was formed in 2011.
